Taboola Advertisements Our Thoughts
Taboola is one of the most common content recommendation advertising companies that you will see on a website right next to Nrelate and Outbrain. These three dominate the area along with a rising star Adblade and the question is what is the good and the bad of using Taboola.
Taboola is a great content recommendation service however, the advertisements that it serves are in need of more quality control. We have all seen that advertisement of “ you wont believe these people actually exist” with the girl who is basically all legs and then a head. Well this is an example of a horrible content
recommendation i just read an interesting science article why would I want to see that? The quality of Taboola is far less than that of Outbrain and even less than that of Nrelate. Taboola serves the lowest quality of these recommended content advertisements and the reason that everyone chooses them over the others, is because they can get into this network the easiest. Nrelate accepts higher quality sites and uses very well targeted advertisement. It also does not require a traffic requirement to get into the network. However, you cant place them in the sidebar quite like Taboola it requires more code to work with.
Taboola advertisements are more spam than they are content, they are low paying from reports and they just look horrible. If the day comes to when we use one of these content recommendation services Taboola will never be in consideration due to the horrible quality of advertisements I run across everyday from them.
Taboola needs to work on quality control and not just focus on the publishers making money for them they need higher quality advertisement control not only for publishers but to get into the display rotation and then we can revisit the idea of using them. However, Taboola is by far the worst content recommendation system we have seen to date.
What are your thoughts on Taboola, Nrelate, Outbrain, and Adblade do you use them? What would you think if we used one to boost our revenue?
If you are looking for a reputable contextual advertising company, I suggest you have a look at Propeller Ads.
