Blogger Sitemap For Static Pages

We all know that Blogger has support for an xml sitemap which allows you to submit your posts to Google. However, this current sitemap lacks static pages meaning if you have set up an About Us Page, Terms of Service, etc that you want to be found by Google your chance of it being found are slim to none.

However, Google has recently added the ability to generate a sitemap for Blogger Pages which includes all the pages you have published so you can now submit this and get it easily crawled and indexed by search engines.

Where Is The Sitemap Located?

To access the pages sitemap you need to enter one of the following URLs into your address bar.

How To Submit Static Pages Sitemap To Google's Search Console

To submit your static pages to Google you need to do the following steps.
  1. Go To Google Search Console (aka as Google webmaster tools)
  2. Choose your blog from the list provided
  3. Choose Crawl > Sitemaps from the left sidebar menu

  4. Click ADD/Test Sitemap
  5. Insert the newly found sitemap-pages.xml sitemap
  6. Hit submit.

Repeat these steps for other search engines such as Baidu, Bing, and Yandex.

Why Aren't All Pages Indexed By Google

Google will only index pages that you allow it. For instance, you can block Google's access to a certain page from a robots.txt file and this will prevent it from being indexed. Or you might have a noindex robots in the header which tells the browser to not index the page.

By properly configuring your robots.txt and your robots tags you should be able to rank better and only show the content that you want Google to index. I hope this helps and as always if you have any questions ask below!
