Why We Say No To In Content Advertisements

As we all no, there are no advertisements on any of the websites owned by The Daily Exposition and for good reason. We do not believe in placing advertisements in the middle of our posts and placing content that appears as advertisements on our pages why is that.

We believe that content and website publications are meant to be clean and free of distraction. This is why all of our advertisements are placed outside of the content area so you can read and see exactly what it is you are looking for. However, this does not come without a loss from us. Placing advertisements in the content is a great way to generate more clicks and this more revenue for us. However, doing so has decreased our revenue so we explore other avenues to increase our revenue or to have hope in doing so.

We recently started using Viglink which is a service that adds affiliate links automatically to all of our posts by analysing the text and placing an affiliate link to a product on one of their many channels. This has a lot of potential as we grow but as of for now it has served very little purpose. So we are trying to explore other avenues of increasing our revenue.

Ideas we are considering

• Placing more advertisements on all of our websites. Display advertising IE more advertisements that use image or flash we don't want auto play videos.
• adf.ly links. These are horribly spam like and we are not sure whether this idea will be used or not or even how. Basically, the links work like this when you click it you are served an advertisement that can't be skipped until after 5 seconds.. Of course, those 5 seconds are the exact issue on why we don't want to use it. 
• Newsletter with advertisements. We do have a newsletter on our main site, but no real way for people to sign up to it. We can use that service to make one for all of our sites and even our videos that we make and place advertisements in it. However, there are not a lot of networks for this, it takes a long time to build up a list, and we don't want it to be spammy.  
• Affiliate store. This idea would be to use our store to sell affiliate items such as those through amazon or to even resell items.
• Monetizing a feed? This idea is to get a third party feed serving our feeds and then to have advertisements in them.  
• New style of advertisements. These could be anything from background to interstitial to peel over. It all depends.
