5 Common Mistakes Blogger Users Make

There are also the issues with SEO that everyone loves to point out and the fact remains that it is not quite that bad and most people just exaggerate the issue. Not to mention that people using Blogger tend to use the most basic settings and don't put in the time to correctly configure the website.

1. No Sitemap??
Blogger does in fact only submit the first 26 posts of your website the rest is up to. You will have to make a sitemap for your blogger blog and submit it through webmaster tools. A Sitemap is imperative to websites as it allows the search engines to see all of your posts and submit them to be displayed in the search results. Blogger just has a little work around its not an automatic solution like WordPress keep in mind though at the same time you aren't paying for Blogger.

Another common mistake is that most people don't set a custom search description for their posts and homepage. 3. No Alt Tags For Images?
While Blogger does not come with a plugin to create automatic alt tags this can actually be solved through the use of JavaScript. Alt Tags help crawlers determine what the image is and thus can help it rank higher on the Google Image Search. So keeping track of your images and making sure they have proper alt tags is imperative.

4. No Custom Robots.txt file?
You can create a custom robots.txt file and its quite simple. This is what allows crawlers to access your page and what pages they are allowed to access. Believe it or not there are certain pages that you don't want crawlers to be accessing. So you will want to configure this accordingly in your Robots.txt file.

5. No Comment Moderation?
This one just seems so obvious, but most Blogger based websites seem to take no care with moderating the comments that are made on their blog. Now Blogger has no real built in tools to help reduce comment spam and it is quite a pain to search through each and every comment to find one spam comment. However, you don't need to be using Blogger's comment system. Disqus, Google Plus, Facebook, there are limitless comment systems you could be using that have much better spam protection.

There  are a lot more mistakes that are made by people on a daily basis, and many of them are little things that take no time to fix, but for some odd reason they rarely ever do.
